Measurement

Measurement of earth retaining structures

Deformation, stress and axial force on the load bearing support are measured along the construction progress such as excavating works by using tools like clinometers or stress gauges which were implemented into the earth retaining structures in advance.

Measurements such as the rebound evaluation by layer-specific settlement gauges and the pressurized water head evaluation (ground swelling management) by interstitial hydraulic gauges are also conducted in case of a large-scale landslide protection works in the area with soft ground .

We support rationalization and safety management of construction works by the total consultation from planning of measurements to placement of gauges, data acquisition, analyses and technical judgements.

Monitoring of deformation

Safe and rational construction works can be realized by confirming existence or non-existence of any adverse effects of the construction on surrounding ground and buildings through measurements and managements of their deformations.

Long-term monitoring also support re-examination of the repairing plan and the maintenance planning by collecting measurement data which can be used as the reference indexes for understanding of the behaviors of surrounding buildings and the evaluation of integrity.

Measurement of horizontal and vertical displacements
of railway structures

The HV line-gauge (KG-HV1) is a tool developed specially for displacement measurement of railway structures or ground. By applying semiconductor lasers and CCD line sensors, simultaneous measurements of both vertical and horizontal displacements can be accomplished with a higher resolution level of 5μm.

The configuration enabled it less sensitive to the ambient temperature change, thus the behavior of the building can be measured with a higher degree of accuracy.

Analysis

Reverse analysis/Prediction analysis on the earth retaining

Safety toward the final stage is assured by improving prediction accuracy, which is conducted by readjustment of calculation conditions for the elasto-plasticity reverse analysis program on the earth retaining with respect to the soil constants, overburden loads and ground water level etc. according to measured results collected during construction.

When the measured values are smaller than the designed values, a reasonable revised construction plan will be offered, which can reduce construction period and temporarily required cost by early removal of load bearing supports or omission of turning beams etc.

Prediction analysis of the influence on surroundings

When construction near important structures like railway or highway is planned, the facility manager will sometime request an impact forecast report depending on closeness and importance.

We can calculate the degree of impact on existing buildings using analyzing software of the finite element method (FEM) as well as offering countermeasures and measurement management programs if necessary.

Stress analysis on structures

When integrity of the whole frames is assessed rigorously by measurements of displacements, detailed assessment of the integrity can be achieved by estimation of the increased stress between reinforcing bar and concrete using the frame (skeleton) calculation and the RC cross-sectional calculation.

3D Survey

Steel frame construction

Concomitant survey with correction of steel column erection using a 3D optical surveying tool enable rapid and accurate evaluation of misalignment of members and displacements of both horizontal and vertical directions, improving efficiency of steel frame construction.

Data regarding the correction of steel column erection can be obtained quickly than ever from the web system for reinforcement assembling via mobile terminals, which can contribute to further improvement of operability.

Marking of reference points

The 3D survey with the backward intersection method is used to marking works. Efficient operations corresponding to the on-site stage can be conducted through high-precision measurements and coordinate determination using the polar coordination system.
